T-Mac gives lessons to Kai Sotto, EWP boys

East West Private’s players got a legend as its mentor, Wednesday morning (Manila time).

Kai Sotto, Cholo Anonuevo, Sage Tolentino, and EWP’s new recruit EJ Kapihe were able to learn from one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history Tracy McGrady in a session held in Angels Basketball Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“There are never enough hours in a day to be blessed and grateful for the priceless gifts of someone’s time and knowledge of the game and the industry. But even more important was the discussion around the game of life,” read EWP’s post.

Sotto is coming off a couple of scrimmages with G League Ignite that saw him average 5.5 points on a combined 2-of-8 shooting from the field with 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks.

Anonuevo, on the other hand, has been training in the States for the last few months. The 6-foot-4 swingman is an FEU-commit.

Tolentino recently committed to Auburn. He was not able to get his Philippine citizenship at the age of 16.

Kapihe is the latest recruit of EWP. He is a Fil-Hawaiian who stands at 6-foot-5 and is just 16 years old. Like Tolentino, he was not able to get his Philippine passport before turning the age of 16.

Definitely, the quartet can learn a lot from McGrady.

The ninth overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft is a seven-time all-star and two-time All-NBA team member. He is also a two-time scoring champion.

Now retired, he has been serving as an analyst for ESPN.
