Motolite will not be part of the Premier Volleyball League’s first professional season.
The Philippine Batteries Incorporated-owned squad requested for a leave of absence due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
League insiders have confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
Motolite is a young squad that seemed destined for a breakout this season. Its lineup had the likes of former league Most Valuable Player Myla Pablo, decorated setter Iris Tolenada, defensive gem Melissa Gohing, and the duo of Isa Molde and Tots Carlos.
Players under contract with the team are still receiving their salaries. However, they can also ask for a buyout if another team from the PVL wants to sign them up.
Other players from Motolite are Ayel Estranero, Chloe Cortez, Jellie Tempiatura, Jessma Ramos, Bern Flora, Fhen Emnas, Grazielle Bombita, and Mela Tunay.
The team’s head coach was Air Padda.
After not making the semifinals in the 2019 Reinforced Conference, Motolite bounced back in the next tournament. They finished in fourth place during the Open Conference.
Motolite’s first team in the PVL was backing the Ateneo Lady Eagles during the 2018 Open Conference.
