Scottie Thompson welcomed 2021 a very happy man.
The Barangay Ginebra star proposed to his long-time girlfriend Pau Fajardo on New Year’s Eve – and got the response he’s been dreaming of.
“She said yes!!!,” wrote the 27-year-old on his Instagram post Friday, which has garnered over 26,000 likes as of this posting.
And the proposal was extremely romantic.
A room had red petals as decorations and lit candles on the floor, while videos of Thompson reading sweet messages played through a projector.
Fajardo was moved to tears as she watched his beau’s clips. Thompson then showed up, knelt, and asked, “Will you marry me?”
Fajardo, still emotional, nodded and then said yes.
This has been another major win for Thompson, who helped the Gin Kings cop the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup title just last December.
The 6-foot-1 guard had himself a season to remember, churning out near triple-doubles almost every night along with big game moments.
The native of Davao del Sur averaged 8.6 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in the Finals to help Ginebra end a 13-year Philippine Cup drought.
Thompson, the Barangay’s fifth overall pick in the 2015 Rookie Draft, has five PBA championships under his belt.
