Thirdy Ravena injures hand as McAdoo deals San-En heartbreak in B.League

James McAdoo was at the right place and at the right time, lifting Shibuya past upset-seeking San-En in the 2020-21 B.League Season, 81-80, Saturday at Aoyama Gakuin Memorial Hall.

Down 69-80 with two minutes left, the Sun Rockers stormed back, cutting the lead down to just one, 79-80, with 26.2 seconds left.

In the next possession, Hayato Kawashima was called for an offensive foul after a shove of Kosuke Ishii.

Ryan Kelly powered his way to the paint but his shot did not fall through. Fortunately for Shibuya, McAdoo was there for the putback with 0.3 seconds to spare.

San-En could not get a shot up as time expired.

McAdoo, who played for NBA team Golden State from 2014 to 2017, had 20 points and seven rebounds to lift the Sun Rockers to an 18-8 record in the East.

Kelly, an ex-player for the Los Angeles Lakers, 13 points and four rebounds.

A string of unfortunate things led to San-En’s 21st loss in 26 games.

The NeoPhoenix raced to an early 24-12 lead early and maintained a double-digit heading into crunch time.

Thirdy Ravena, who was playing well with six points and four rebounds, injured his right hand after diving for a loose ball and landing on it with 6:34 left in the third canto. The 6-foot-2 Asian import tried to play through it but had to be subbed out a minute later. He did not return.

Making matters worse for San-En, a team that was already missing Nenad Millenovic, was that Kyle Hunt fouled out of the game with 3:20 left.

With Hunt out, Shibuya went on a 14-1 run to close out the game.

Hunt had 17 points, five rebounds, four blocks, and three assists.

Stevan Jelovac tallied 19 points and 16 rebounds in another frustrating loss for NeoPhoenix.

The two squads face off again on Sunday at 1:05PM (Manila time).
