Mar Prado will no longer play out her final year with Adamson University.
But it’s not because she is turning pro. Instead, the dazzling forward will complete her undergraduate degree at Arellano University.
“The past four years have been a privilege and honor for me as it was my dream to be part of Adamson,” she expressed.
“I am truly grateful for the scholarship support given by Adamson University. It allowed me to study and play basketball at the most awaited biggest event in collegiate sports, the UAAP.”
Prado, 24, mutually parted ways with Adamson in late 2019 after the Final Four of UAAP Season 82. Wanting to finish her studies, she moved from San Marcelino to Legarda.
Fortunately for the native of San Carlos, Pangasinan, all her subjects were credited by Arellano and she is on pace for a May graduation. Arellano does not have a women’s basketball program, however.
Prado will be a huge loss to the Lady Falcons once the UAAP season resumes later this year.
Prado helped Adamson reach the Final Four in three of her four years there.
In Season 82, Prado played the best basketball of her young career, averaging 23.87 points, 10.73 rebounds, 3.33 steals, and 2.27 assists per contest.
Her standout campaign in the UAAP also earned her a spot with Gilas Pilipinas Women’s during the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
Prado is still not closing her doors on the game she loves, vowing to serve the national team once she graduates.
