Why Adroit core joined SMART Omega

When Adroit Esports was forced to shut down its operations last November, its Dota 2 players received a lot of interest from different local and international squads.

But the team composed of Marvin “Boomy” Rushton, Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva, Bryle “Cml” Alvizo, Justine Ryan “Tino” Grimaldo, and Nikko “Nikko” Bilocura decided to keep the Adroit spirit within them by sticking with one another.

What followed was a wave of organizations trying to sign up the five under their banner. After all, these men came from the squad that gave the Philippines one of its three gold medals in the esports event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

After long and careful deliberation, the quintet was able to single out one team who they believe has what it takes to help them throughout their esports journey.

“First of all, gusto ko talaga yung Smart Omega kasi structured, magaling silang mag alaga ng players saka yung SMART or PLDT nagsusupport talaga ng esports,” said team captain Boomy in Tiebreaker Vodcasts’ Beyond the Meta, presented by SMART Sports.

“Yun talaga yung isa sa dahilan kaya pinili ko talaga yung SMART.”

Smart Omega also offered different activities to keep them focused and healthy in their Dota Pro Circuit journey. This, Cml believes, sealed the deal for them.

“Siyempre structured yung SMART compared sa Adroit so maraming activities. So like minsan nagkaroon kami ng fitness, outside gaming may iba pang activities na ginagawa para hindi kami masyadong maburnout, may fitness coach, may life coach,” shared Cml.

And now that former Adroit offlaner Jun “Bok” Kanehara joined the squad to fill in the roster spot left by Nikko, the new-look Smart Omega Dota 2 squad is more than ready to conquer their dreams – and that is to make their first-ever appearance in The International.
