Alaverdi Ramazanov hopes to continue legacy against Capitan

ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi “Babyface Killer” Ramazanov may be one of the biggest stars in ONE Championship today, but he’s not about to stop where he stands.

In fact, if you ask the 26-year-old Dagestani, he’ll tell you he’s just warming up his engine.

“In the future, I want my name to be well known all over the world. I want to be one of the world’s top five fighters,” Ramazanov told ONEFC.com.

“I want to be remembered as a guy who faced many legends in the ring and won.”

He’ll get the chance to further build his legacy when he takes on no. 2-ranked kickboxer Capitan Petchyindee Academy at ONE: Unbreakable on January 22 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Capitan made himself known in ONE Super Series by scoring the fastest KO in the all-striking league’s history – a six-second KO of Petchtanong Petchfergus at ONE: A New Breed III in September of 2020.

Ramazanov likewise had a debut to remember. He beat Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy, which instantly catapulted him to superstardom and later on, a shot at the belt, which he won after beating “Muay Thai Boy” Zhang Chenglong in 2019.

“Even today when people introduce me, they say I am that guy who beat Petchmorakot. It is surreal when idols become rivals,” Ramazanov said.

“I am very proud to be a part of ONE. When I look around, I see great fighters, multiple-time World Champions, legends. It was a big step in my career to fight in the same organization as them.”

He might have started as a young boy training Muay Thai in Russia, but the maturing athlete now promises to protect the one thing that has changed his career.

“This belt brought my name to the public and to a higher phase in sport, to the elite of sportsmen. This belt changed my sporting career.”
