BREN Esports’ Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno has long been considered as the Philippines’ child prodigy in the realm of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Now, all eyes are on the 16-year-old core player as he makes his debut in the MLBB World Championships.
And without a doubt, Filipino shoutcasters Yvez “Wolf” Nopueto and Adrian “Butters” Jison – who will be casting the games live in Singapore – believe that now is the time for KarlTzy to prove to the world that he is more than ready to sit on the throne and become the face of MLBB.
“For the longest time, ang tawag namin kay Karl ay the child prodigy eh. This time around, ‘pag maipanalo niya ito, he can break out of that certain shade at hindi na siya magiging child prodigy. Isa na talaga siya doon sa mga frontrunner ng MLBB sa Southeast Asia at sa buong mundo,” shared Butters in Tiebreaker Vodcasts’ Beyond the Meta, presented by SMART Sports.
“Puwede na niyang patunayan na ‘Ako talaga ‘yung pinakamalakas. ‘Wag niyo na akong tawaging child prodigy, tawagin niyo na akong strongest player in the world when it comes to MLBB and when it comes to the mid lane jungle.’”
Wolf, meanwhile, echoed Butters’ statement. He believes that the stage is already set for KarlTzy’s crowning moment.
And it’s just a matter of him showing up and leading BREN Esports to the promised land to finally claim that ‘best player in the world’ tag.
“The stage is set. Nilagay na ‘yung carpet, lalakaran na lang talaga ni Karltzy. This is the moment he’s waiting for. ‘Pag tinanong mo siya, lagi niyang sinasabi ‘Tapos na ako sa Pinas. I’m done here. I have established my dominance here. Naitayo ko na ‘yung watawat ko, next talaga ‘yung international’. ‘Yun ‘yung gusto niya,” said Wolf in the vodcast hosted by Apple David and Carla Lizardo.
“Bago pa mapunta sa M2, ‘pag tinanong mo siya, ang lagi niyang sasabihin, gusto niya makasabayan ‘yung mga international players. That’s what he wants to prove, and I’m telling you the stage is set. Ito na talaga, ike-claim niya na ito.”
KarlTzy started his journey with Finesse Solid in the MPL-Philippines Season Two. He played with the franchise up until Season Four, even after the Sterling Global Dragons acquired the franchise.
He was selected to be part of the Philippines’ Sibol national team and compete in the 30th Southeast Asian Games. There, he spearheaded the Philippines upset of Indonesia in the grand finals for the gold medal.
KarlTzy then took his talents to BREN Esports, suffering a heart-breaking lower bracket finals defeat in Season Five. He finally ended the franchise’s championship drought in Season Six.
He also led the league in several in-game statistics such as average game score (9.57), average kills (5.78); total hero damage (58,655); total kills (237); and total match MVPs (24), out of all 62 players, in a total of 41 matches.
At such a young age, KarTzy proved that he is indeed the best player in the Philippines as of today.
And now, he is looking to conquer the world stage when BREN Esports open its M2 campaign on January 19, Monday.
