Jack Animam ends collegiate career at 96-0, carries Shih Hsin to UBA title

Jack Animam closed her collegiate career with another championship.

The 6-foot-3 product of National University tallied her 16th double-double of the season, powering Shih Hsin University to a 70-51 win over National Taiwan Normal to clinch the 2020-21 University Basketball Alliance championship, Sunday at Taipei Arena.

With the win, Animam ended her collegiate career spanning two schools and six years with a 96-0 record. She is also a six-time collegiate champion, winning the UAAP title five times.

Animam made sure to end her time in college with a dominant line, tallying 18 points on 8-of-17 from the lead, 20 rebounds, and four assists.

It was not just Animam who ended up being unblemished as the Tigers ended their campaign with an 18-0 record to win their second straight championship.

The Tigers though needed a strong second quarter to fend off their arch-rivals.

Clinging to an 18-17 lead to end the opening frame, SHU’s patented defense limited their NTNU to just eight points in the second stanza to gain a 39-25 lead.

Though NTNU was able to recover in the third canto to cut the lead to just eight, 53-45, the Tigers again stifled their opponents to just six points in the final frame.

Lin Die tallied a double-double for SHU as well with 21 points and 13 boards with four steals while Chen Yuti added 13 points, four assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

SHU overpowered NTNU in the rebounding department, 51-28.

Wu Mingzhen paced NTNU with 15 points and six boards while Xu Shihan added 10 markers.

This is just NTNU’s fifth loss of the season, three of which coming from SHU.
