All-Filipino squad OB Esports x Neon opened its ONE Esports Singapore Major campaign with a rough 0-2 loss against Quincy Crew, Monday afternoon.
Neon Esports — who finished the DPC-Southeast Asia upper division at second place — kick-started Game One with a bang, pushing the North American squad to its limit by leaning on Gabriel “Skem” Ong’s Death Prophet.
Skem transitioned back to the role at the last-minute, with resident carry John “Natsumi-” Vargas out. He brought the fight against Quincy Crew with his Death Prophet.
His efforts were not enough, though. The Filipinos surrendered Game One to the Yawar “YawaR” Hassan-led Quincy Crew.
YawaR, who played Wraith King in the opener, picked up the Divine Rapier in the late-game, which keyed Quincy Crew’s opening triumph. He finished with seven kills, five deaths, and 13 assists.
Skem registered 14 kills and 14 assists against four deaths. Meanwhile, offlaner Rafael “Rappy” Palo — who took over Skem’s previous role — had an impressive first game with his former squad. He put up 11 kills and 16 assists against four deaths playing Lycan in the Game One loss.
Erin “Yopaj” Ferrer also had a decent game for the Filipino squad with nine kills, five deaths, and 22 assists using Earth Spirit.
Neon Esports lorded the kills department in Game One, 41-29. The opener lasted for 45, minutes 37 seconds.
Lopsided was the story for Quincy Crew in Game Two as they closed out Neon Esports with ease.
Quinn “Quinn” Callahan’s Razor outmatched Yopaj’s Grimstroke in the midlane, which brought a plethora of problems for Neon Esports later on.
Neon Esports called GG at the 28-minute mark.
Quinn spearheaded Quincy Crew with 14 kills and 14 assists against two deaths in the 32-12 Game Two domination.
Neon Esports will have a tougher task ahead, as they are set to face Aster, Vici Gaming, and PSG.LGD later in the day.
