The new-look Smart Omega Esports opened its Dota Pro Circuit 2021 Season Two-Southeast Asia Upper Division with a dominant 2-1 victory over Lilgun, Wednesday evening.
Omega midlaner Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva’s Puck carried the fight for the team in Game Three. He put up 15 kills and 19 assists against just one death to spearhead the Smart-backed squad’s 44-20 win.
Justin “Tino” Grimaldo backstopped the Southeast Asian Games gold medalist with 10 kills and nine assists against two deaths with his Alchemist. The Omega carry recorded a game-high 36,292 net worth through 1,036 gold per minute.
“It’s part of our plan to end up first in the upper division[. B]ut I want my team not to be pressured by it, so we’re just having fun and we’re doing our best in every game that we have. We are also doing our best in preparing for every game,” said Omega support Bryle “cml” Alvizo in the post-game interview.
It was a dominant Game Three for Omega, up until Lilgun managed to even the scales after a crucial clash at the bottom lane jungle. Luckily for the Filipinos, Mac and Tino powered down the top lane, which eventually ended the match.
The debuting Sam “Sam_H” Hidalgo put up eight kills and 21 assists against three deaths in the clincher which lasted for 37 minutes and 44 seconds.
On the other hand, Sukhbat “Sanctity-” Otgondavaa led Ligun with nine kills, six deaths, and six assists.
Omega Esports drew first blood in the series. Mac’s Beastmaster registering a perfect 12-0-15 kill-death-assist tally in the 29-7 Game One victory which ended in just 27 minutes and 58 seconds.
Tino, meanwhile, added nine kills and 10 assists without a single death with his Io. The debuting Sam_H chipped in a game-high 19 assists with his Centaur to put Omega a win away from sweeping the series.
Omega, however, had no answer for Altanginj “x123” Bilguun’s Huskar in Game Two. He tallied 14 kills and eight assists against four deaths to send the series to a winner-take-all Game Three.
Omega Esports will have their former coach Carlo “Kuku” Palad and his T1 squad as their next assignment on Saturday, April 17.
