Javi Gomez de Liano has finally left the country on Wednesday as he heads to Japan.
Wearing a dap brown suit, the 6-foot-5 winger was brought to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport by his girlfriend Einica Buhain.
Once he gets to Mito, Ibaraki, Gomez de Liano will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine before being able to join the Robots.
The Robots, who were promoted to B.League Division 1 after a second place finish in B2 last year, lost both of their games last weekend — bowing to Akita, 63-84 and 57-83.
Gomez de Liano is expected to miss Ibaraki’s games against Kiefer Ravena’s Shiga this weekend and Brandon Jawato and Utsonomiya next weekend.
The earliest game Gomez de Liano can play for the Robots is on October 23 when they take on Thirdy Ravena and San-En at Kamisu Arena.
Gomez de Liano is the last Filipino import from this wave to enter Japan.
Already playing their first games in the B.League are Kiefer, Thirdy, Kobe Paras (Niigata), and Javi’s brother Juan (Tokyo Z).
Ray Parks of Nagoya is still recovering from an injury while Dwight Ramos (Toyama) and Kemark Carino (Aomori) are about to clear quarantine in a few days.
Bryan Bagunas (Oita), Jaja Santiago (Saitama), and Marck Espejo (Tokyo) have began training with their respective V.League teams while Sarina Bolden (Saitama) and Quinley Quezada (Chiba) are in the midst of the WE.League season.
