Her Saitama Ageo Medics pulled off a 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Okayama to open the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Women’s tournament second round, Saturday at the Saga Sunrise Park General Gymnasium.
Santiago finished with 11 points on 10 attacks and a block, in the match that lasted 1 hour and 56 minutes.
But the woman of the hour for Saitama was Shainah Joseph — who once played for Sta. Lucia in PSL — with 35 markers.
Consistent twin digit scorers Yuri Yoshino and Mami Uchiseto also came through with 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Ageo Medics rose to 6-6 to grab a piece of fifth place alongside Okayama (7-5). They are tied, as both have 19 points despite different win-loss records.
Three Seagulls finished with 15 markers apiece in Miharu Yoshioka, Aoi Fukurawa, and Mae Watanabe.
Up next for Saitama is the Hisamitsu Springs tomorrow, 11:05 am, at the same venue.
