Kintaro Miyagi has decided to not play his final year for University of the Philippines.
“Thank you UPMFT brothers for six years full of blood and sweat but now it’s time to close this book and write a new story,” he said.
Miyagi, 22 and was once part of the Azkals, will try his fate in the Philippines Football League.
And the forward/striker has built quite a resume with the Fighting Maroons.
Miyagi showed his potential early on aiding the Fighting Maroons to the UAP Season 78 crown. Miyagi had a treble during the final against Ateneo.
From there, the Physical Education graduate was a vital cog in Anto Gonzales’ attack force and was key in another title run in Season 80 along with third-place finishes in seasons 79 and 81.
Miyagi likewise helped the Maroons bag four UniGames championships titles in the last five years, the latest of which he is the skipper.
The striker sat out Season 82 to recover from his nagging injuries and had hoped to return for Season 83.
