Coming into the game with nothing to lose, Happy Feet saved their best performance for last.
The Team Payaman-backed Emperors played spoiler, booting out Cignal Ultra in the playoff race through a 2-0 upset in the final day of The Nationals Season Two Mobile Legends: Bang Bang conference.
This is the Emperors’ first-ever series win in the tournament.
The Warriors needed a 2-0 sweep in order to gain three points and earn a playoff against STI for the fourth spot.
Unfortunately for them, Chiechie and REGI were there to give Happy Feet a fitting end.
Chiechie wreaked havoc in Game One, putting up a clean 8-0-0 slate with his Lancelot to earn MVP honors. REGI, meanwhile, scored six kills – which included a maniac – along with zero deaths and four assists with his Lunox, helping the Emperors take the series opener.
The 1-2 punch sustained their momentum once more, but this time it was REGI who was named the MVP. He had a kill, four deaths, and 10 jaw-dropping assists with his Kadita.
Chiechie, meanwhile, ended up with seven kills, zero deaths, and five assists playing Ling.
Happy Feet ended its The Nationals campaign with a 5-18 record for six points. Meanwhile, Cignal Ultra ended with a 10-13 card – good for 12 points.
In the other match, Laus Auto Group Playbook Esports scored a massive 2-1 upset against the top-ranked Smart Omega to clinch the third seed in the playoffs.
Beemo once again stepped up for the Eagles, winning the MVP honors in Game Three with his tank chou. He finished with a kill, two deaths, and 10 assists.
The three-mage setup also did wonders for Playbook with Arvs leading the way with his Lunox. He ended up with eight kills, three deaths, and three assists.
JAKE THE DOG’s Harith and Ryota’s Esmeralda combined for five kills, a death, and 10 assists.
On the other hand, Hadjizy (Lancelot) was held to just three kills, three deaths, and two assists after a superb Brody performance in Game Two.
Playbook had the chance to seal the series in Game Two, but Omega was quick to answer the Eagles’ Diggie strategy to force a winner-take-all Game Three.
The Eagles (13-10) secured the third seed in the playoffs with 17 points. On the other hand, Omega (16-7) remained at the top with 22 points.
Smart Omega will go up against the second-ranked BREN Epro in the upper bracket. Meanwhile, Laus Auto Group Playbook Esports will be facing STI in the lower bracket.
