IATF approves Calambubble training for Tokyo-bound athletes

The Inter-Agency Task Force has approved the Philippine Olympic Committee’s request for the resumption of training.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon.

“The request of the Philippine Olympic Committee to resume the training of national athletes vying for the Tokyo Olympics in a bubble-type setting has been approved,” read IATF resolution 88.

The POC recommended that the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna be the host of the bubble for both the athletes that have already qualified for the global meet and the ones taking part in qualifiers.

Inspire also hosted the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup and Gilas Pilipinas’ camp in preparation for the 2020 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers.

Athletes that have already qualified for the quadrennial meet scheduled from July 23 to August 8, 2021 are Eumir Marcial, EJ Obiena, Caloy Yulo, and Irish Magno. Out of the four, only Magno is in the country.
