PBA 3×3 to be played before Govs’ Cup during weekends

As expected, the PBA 3×3 will be played much earlier as the Governors’ Cup is set to commence next week at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

From firing off at 2:00 p.m., the halfcourt competitions will be starting at 9 in the morning beginning in the fifth leg next weekend.

One day in a leg usually runs for a little over six hours, so 3×3 matches aren’t seen to run into the schedule of Governors’ Cup games in the afternoon.

A 9 a.m. start time means that the three-a-side tilt could end at around 3:00 p.m., giving the league enough time to transition into the 5-on-5.

Governors’ Cup double-headers during Saturdays and Sundays tip off at 4:00 p.m., according to the schedule released by the league Friday.

“Umaga, dire-diretso na,” Commissioner Willie Marcial told Tiebreaker Times.

“It will still be played during the weekends but instead of playing in the afternoon, it will be in the morning,” added PBA 3×3 chairman Dickie Bachmann.

This marks yet another major change for the PBA 3×3, who recently switched to playing legs during weekends after running the first three in nine days.

The new league is now halfway through the first conference. Leg 4 is set to open this Saturday, December 4, still at the same venue.

Sista is looking to go back-to-back in the upcoming stop.
