Bryan Bagunas continues to deliver; Oita Miyoshi suffers sweep at hands of Toray

Bryan Bagunas continues to bring the goods for struggling Oita Miyoshi but to no avail.

Toray made quick work of the Weisse Adler, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20, in the 2020-21 Japan V. League Division 1 Men’s Tournament, Sunday at the Sumida City Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-5 Filipino outside hitter again led Oita Miyoshi with 14 points on 11 spikes, two block kills, and a service ace.

Curtis Stockton was the only other Weisse Adler to reach twin digits in scoring, with 11 points in the match that lasted only 1 hour and 13 minutes.

Oita Miyoshi remained winless in 10 games.

Krizstian Padar unloaded 17 markers for Toray, while Shoma Tomita added 11 for the victors.

Middle blocker Kentaro Takahashi was a man among the boys at the net, providing 13 points including five blocks.

The victory brought the Arrows to a tie for sixth place with Sakai Blazers behind a 5-5 standing.

Up next for Bagunas and Weisse Adler are Wolfdogs Nagoya on Saturday, November 21, 12 noon, at the Entryo Toyoda Gosei Memorial Gymnasium in Aichi.
