Clark and Shintarou capitalized on Indonesia’s late-game collapse as E-Gilas Pilipinas notched their third consecutive victory, 65-50, in the FIBA Esports Open II Southeast Asian Conference, Saturday evening.
Down by as much as 13 points in the final frame, Rafifsa engineered a 10-0 run to slice the Philippines’ lead to just three points with 1:14 remaining in the game.
Unfortunately for them, though, Clark had other things in mind. In the next possession, the former NBA2KL Invitational APAC representative knocked down a three to restore order for the Filipinos.
Indonesia’s nerves caught up to them in the following play with Loading getting called for a shot clock violation which proved to be too costly for them.
Shintarou made the Indonesians pay with another three-pointer to put the Philippines ahead by nine points, 59-50, with 19.8 ticks left in the game.
El Chapo smothered Loading in the ensuing play which forced a miss on the corner three attempt. To add salt top the wound, Izzo found a wide-open Clark on the other end for another three-pointer followed by another one from Shintarou off a timeout.
E-Gilas turned a once-three-point advantage to 15 points in just under two minutes.
Clark fired 24 points – all of which came from beyond the arc – against Indonesia. Meanwhile, Shintarou, who had 37 big points against Australia in the previous game, pumped in 22 points for the Philippines.
Rafsisa, on the other hand, topped Indonesia with 19 points.
E-Gilas finished day one at the top of the standings with a 3-1 win-loss slate and will return to action tomorrow.
