E-Gilas Pilipinas’ comeback bid fell short as the Australia E-Boomers booked Game One of the best-of-three FIBA Esports Open II Grand Finals, 62-54, Sunday evening.
Down by as much as 16 points in the final frame, Clark fired seven points on a 14-4 run. That cut the deficit to just six points, 54-60, with 58.1 ticks remaining in the game.
E-Gilas was able to pull a stop, on the other hand, to try and cut the lead to a single possession. Shintarou then fumbled a pass to Rial with 29.5 left, which ended the Filipinos’ comeback attempt.
AnkleTV sealed the deal off an alley-oop dunk from Waurk.
Australia went on to lead by as much as 18 points via a trey from Dlaey with 32.4 remaining in the third.
AnkleTV provided 15 points for the E-Boomers, while Waurk had 12 markers.
E-Gilas was led by Shintarou with 16 points. On the other hand, Clark — who has been big for the Philippines in the entire tournament — was held to just nine points.
The Philippines was held to just 25-percent shooting in the field, despite playing in the Southeast Asia region, in the first half which started their woes.
