Shintarou caught fire, powering E-Gilas Pilipinas’ 26-point mauling of the Australia E-Boomers, 81-55, in their second meeting in the FIBA Esports Open II Southeast Asian Conference, Saturday evening.
The eight-time ProAm champion unloaded 37 big points, built on six three-pointers, to lead the Philippines’ revenge game against Australia, who beat them earlier in the day by 17 points, 70-53.
Shintarou popped 10 points in the first quarter, but it was in the third quarter where the 2k veterans league standout really torched the net. He fired all of E-Gilas’ 15 points in the third quarter, outscoring the Australians, who only had 11 points in the same frame.
Shintarou’s hot hands gave the Filipinos a 19-point cushion entering the final frame.
Coopr tried to cut the deficit for Australia in the final quarter, but Izzo, Clark, and Shintarou joined hands in a 9-0 blitz to give the Philippines its biggest lead of the game at 26, 76-50, with 1:08 remaining.
Clark then ended the game with a booming triple to restore the 26-point lead that was sliced by Squogs early one.
Clark added 19 points for the Philippines, shooting 6-of-11 in the field to go along with three assists.
With the victory, E-Gilas will have homecourt advantage and play in the Southeast Asia server in their third match-up tomorrow against the E-Boomers.
The Philippines are now on top of the standings with a 2-1 record and will face Indonesia later in the day at 8:20 p.m.
