E-Gilas hammers Indonesia by 28 in FIBA Esports Open II

E-Gilas Pilipinas vented their ire on Indonesia, 65-37, to enter the win column in the FIBA Esports Open II, Saturday night.

The Philippines made it rain from behind the arc, draining 14 triples in just 19 attempts, while its foes shot a poor 4-of-17, good for just 23.5 percent.

The Laus Playbook Esports-backed E-Gilas pulled away from a tight 18-11 contest, exploding for 20 points in the second quarter while limiting Indonesia to just five, to balloon a 22-point margin at halftime, 38-16.

And with the game already in the bag, 59-37, but with quotient in their minds, E-Gilas’ big man Rak slammed home three straight dunks, with the last one off a lob from Shintarou for the biggest lead of the game at 28.

Shintarou once again led the Philippines 28 points on a hyper-efficient 8-of-11 from deep, alongside eight assists and three rebounds.

Rak, who did not play against Australia in the first game, provided 17 markers, six boards, and three steals for E-Gilas.

Custer just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds to go along with two blocks and a steal.

TurnUp had markers for Indonesia while floor general Rafifsa got 10 points and 11 dimes.

Australia remained at the top behind a 2-0 card while the Philippines improved to 1-1. Indonesia is still winless at 0-2.

The Philippines looks to get even against Australia later at 7 pm.
