E-Gilas drills 16 triples, buries Australia in Grand Finals prelude

E-Gilas Pilipinas drilled 16 triples as they clinched the top seed in the FIBA ESports Open II, dumping Australia in their third matchup, 76-45, Sunday.

The two squads will face each other again in the best-of-three finals at 7 pm later.

The Philippines, as the top team, will have the own-server advantage in the championship round, which means a little better connection for the host.

E-Gilas started the game scorching hot, zooming to a 23-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, before Australia inched closer at halftime, 24-35.

Then the Laus Playbook Esports-backed Philippine team put the game away in the third canto.

The Filipinos outscored their foes 24-7, to build an insurmountable 28-point separation heading into the payoff period, 59-31.

A jump shot from Rial with 48 ticks left gave the Philippines its biggest lead in the game at 34, 76-42.

It was a balanced field on offense for E-Gilas with Shintarou leading the way with 27 points, founded on seven treys.

Clark drained six three-pointers en route to 20 markers, while team captain Izzo had 18 points of his own. Rial added 11 markers on three conversions from deep.

Waurk was the lone bright spot for the E-Boomers with 26 points.
