James De Los Santos solidifies lead with landmark 22nd gold

Getting on top is less than half the job, as staying there is the ultimate goal for James De Los Santos.

The world’s top e-kata karateka widened his lead in the rankings after asserting his mastery of Matias Moreno-Domont of Switzerland in the finals of the Athletes E-Tournament #2 with results coming in Tuesday.

Using Unsu yet again, De Los Santos amassed a total of 25.4 points to bag his 22nd gold medal of the Sportdata E-Tournament World Series over the Swiss’ 24.6 in Suparinpei.

“It feels really great winning my 22nd gold, especially that it will widen the gap even more in the virtual kata world rankings,” the veteran internationalist shared.

The two-time ISKF world champion earlier took down USA’s Alfredo Bustamante in the semifinals of the said tournament.

De Los Santos was very pleased with his continued success even after bagging the coveted pole position in the rankings already.

“I keep in mind that I’m competing with my toughest competitor, and that is myself. I’m aiming for higher scores compared to my previous performances. It’s also about enjoying the moment; always give your best in every performance,” he said.
