TNT takes advantage of Wright injury, Abueva fouls to take 1-0 lead

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – Jayson Castro closed it out as TNT edged Phoenix Super LPG, 95-92, to draw first blood in their 2020 PBA Philippine Cup best-of-five semifinal series Wednesday at the AUF Sports and Cultural Center.

The decorated floor general scored seven of the Tropang Giga’s last eight points, including the pressure-packed free throws with 5.3 seconds left to play that doused cold water to the comeback aspirations of the Fuel Masters.

Castro finished with 20 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals as he spearheaded his side past a Phoenix side that willed itself despite the absence of Matthew Wright, who sat out much of the game due to a sprained ankle.
